Well, we have come across many 'so weird that it's funny' news in 2020 but none is as shocking as this one. You might be aware of cartoon character Shinchan Nohara. Yes, the same 5-year-old Japanese menacing kid from the Nohara family! Shinchan's name appeared at the top of the BSc (Honours) merit list of Siliguri College in north Bengal, an official of the institution told news agency Press Trust of India on Monday.
"The name was immediately removed, and a fresh list put up on the college website. We have lodged a police complaint as it was an act of mischief," he said.
The college had outsourced to an agency the process of compiling the merit list based on details given by the candidates during online applications, but the students' details will be scrutinised by the authorities of the institution before the classes begin, the official said.
When we first read this news, we thought it was a new episode in which Shinchan studies BSc and tops it. But no, it seems this is some mischief of some students. We wonder how this happened and his name appeared on the list. Was there no one to check it? It has ended up being a huge embarrassment.
And this is not the first time that this has happened. Earlier, Sunny Leone and singer Neha Kakkar's name "mischievously" made it to the merit list of a college in West Bengal.
Talking about Shinchan, it follows the adventures of the five-year-old Shinnosuke "Shin" Nohara and his parents, baby sister, dog, neighbours, and friends and is set in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture of Japan. A Hindi dub of the anime started airing in India in 2006. There were complaints from parents over the main character's behaviour and the attitudes exhibited towards elders on the show. It was seen to have a negative influence on children.
Well, if you think about the menace created in this case that involves Shinchan, looks like toddler really does have 'influence'.
