Sushant Singh Rajput case: Vidya Balan slams vilification of Rhea Chakraborty; says, 'Untimely death of a beloved young star has become a media circus'

After Taapsee Pannu, actress Vidya Balan has come out in support Lakshmi Manchu, who slammed media trial against Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput case. The Shakuntala Devi star replied Lakshmi's tweet and wrote, "God bless you @LakshmiManchu for saying this out loud. It is so unfortunate that the tragic and untimely death of a beloved young star Sushant Singh, Rajput has become a media circus. In the same breath, as a woman, my heart breaks at the vilification of Rhea Chakraborty. Isn't it supposed to be 'Innocent Until Proven Guilty', or is it now 'Guilty Until Proven Innocent'!? Let's show some respect for the constitutional rights of a citizen and let the law take its course."

Post the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, we saw social media users started the debate on nepotism and insiders vs outsiders in the industry. Talking about it and social media trolls, Vidya Balan told BollywoodLife, "I don't think about these things, honestly (the backlash). I don't read anything. Even when I post on social media, I don't read the comments...so, I'm blissfully unaware. I think I will continue to speak my mind because that's they only way I know to be. Such things are very convenient (people trolling just because she's married to Kapur). I don't see how that changes the fact that I've come from a non-film family and have worked very hard to get where I have. I'm very proud of this journey, I'm very grateful for my journey, and people can say whatever they want, it doesn't matter to me. Of course, it is difficult (for outsiders). I won't deny that at all. It is easier when you come from within the industry. I think this is the only industry where meritocracy reigns supreme. So if you're good at what you do and you work hard and believe in yourself, even sky is not the limit."
