Tuesday Trivia: Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke actress Rupal Patel believes Kokila and Meenakshi are twins

Kokilaben aka Rupal Patel is making the rounds on the internet of late. For the uninitiated, a young, talented social-media influencer and composer, Yashraj Mukhate, has created a rap version of the scene where Kokilaben scolds Gopi Bahu on the hit TV show, Saath Nibhana Saathiya. Since then, a ruckus has been created on social media in terms of memes and what not. The video is going viral as you read this. Kokilaben has been one of the strongest and most influential characters on the show, with actress Rupal Patel's portrayal of Kokilaben having impressed everyone a lot. Her entire getup and makeup were huge hits. People even believed the actress to be like her character. However, that's not the case.

Currently, Rupal Patel is playing Meenakshi Rajvansh in Rajan Shahi's Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. The character is somewhat similar to Kokila in terms of her authoritative nature and mindset yet individually, very different. The actress had earlier opened up on the same, mentioning that the two are like twins. In an interview with Times of India, Rupal had said, "I would say that Kokila and Meenakshi are like twins. While Kokila was traditional and orthodox, Meenakshi is sophisticated and educated. However, both want the best for their families and feel that they are always right. I was completely bowled over by the character of Meenakshi and the way she has been written, when Rajan Sir offered me the role. She has a lot of depth. I had to prep a lot for the part. Given my theatre background, I try to understand the psychology and body language of the characters offered to me. Voice modulation plays an important role, too. When shooting, I don't like to speak much on set. I am composed and focused. I like to concentrate on my performance and hone my craft."

The actress also opened up on the adulation that she has been receiving at the hands of the audience. "The audience of television has given me their unconditional love and support. It is indeed a major responsibility, which I understand and acknowledge. Every time I get an offer for a film, I tell the producers to talk to the makers of my TV show (smiles). I would like to do films if everything falls into place. It's just that I don't want to ask for leaves from a TV show to work in a film. That won't be right," the actress added.
