Throwback Thursday: When Abhishek Bachchan feared Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty would replace him in Bol Bachchan

Recently, Abhishek Bachchan, who debuted with JP Dutta's Refugee, completed 20 years in Bollywood. In his career hitherto spanning two decades, the actor witnessed several ups and downs but has managed to impress us with his performances in films like Yuva, Guru, Bluffmaster, Dhoom, Dostana and others. The actor has been sharing interesting anecdotes about his films on Instagram. The Manmarziyaan actor recently appeared for an interview with senior journalist Rajeev Masand, where he recalled how he was not able to get a perfect scene in Bol Bachchan and later feared that Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty would replace him in the film.

Talking about that incident, AB Junior said, "I remember, Rohit (Shetty) and Ajay (Devgn), after about a week into the shoot, we were shooting in Jaipur, they said, 'Look we need to talk,' because we weren't getting that one scene. And I panicked, I said, 'Oh god, these guys are going to replace me in the film,' because I wasn't able to get it. You could see at some point of time there was a bit of polite frustration creeping in on the unit's side. And I remember, Rohit sat me down, we went up to Ajay's room in the hotel, and he also sat me down, and said, "Look we need to rehearse because this is not what I want". So, I said, "Okay, if you will explain to me, I will work on it." He said, "Look I get your sense of humour and your comic timing is very sarcastic, it's very deadpan". So he said, "The energy of your comedy is very low, and it's brilliant. But, my film's energy is up here. It's more slapstick. If you are not going to be at this level and you are going to perform low, you will be the odd one out and people are going to say you are not doing a good job. This is the world of Rohit Shetty Films and you have to come into that world, otherwise, it's not going to work."

He added, "And that made so much sense to me and I thought I now have to lean completely on Rohit and I did it. It doesn't come naturally to me to be that hyper but I did it and it worked brilliantly and I went to Rohit and said, "Thank you, I needed that one cattle prod to wake up." Bol Bachchan, which was a tribute to cult-classic Gol Maal, also featured Asin, Prachi Desai, Archana Puran Singh and Krushna Abhishek in key roles.

On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan will be next seen in Breathe: Into The Shadows, which marks his digital debut. The web series also features Nithya Menen, Amit Sadh and Saiyami Kher in pivotal roles. It is produced by Abundantia Entertainment and created and directed by Mayank Sharma. The show has been written by Bhavani Iyer, Vikram Tuli, Arshad Syed and Mayank Sharma.
