Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra starrer Dostana is one of the most loved Bollywood films among the cine-goers. While John Abraham's hot body made all the girls drooling over him, our former Miss World got another title in the film, which is 'Desi Girl'. Undoubtedly, we had the perfect casting coup of this rom-com but it will surprise you to know that Priyanka and John were not the first choices for Dostana. The first choices for these characters were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan. But the didn't materialise and since Ash and Abhi were a real married couple, Saif Ali Khan thought it won't look right in the film.
Aishwarya had revealed this news in an old interview with DNA saying, "Through the years, Karan and I thought we will work on Dostana together. Then I got married. Saif was there in the film initially but after our marriage, he was like, 'Abhishek and Aishwarya will be together in the film. So it won't look right'. Then, it was John and Abhishek with PeeCee who eventually did the film. Saif himself opted out. Somewhere, things did not fall in place for both me and Karan."
When Abhishek and Aishwarya arrived on Koffee With Karan, the Yuva actor revealed that Saif was the first choice and when he opted out John Abraham came on board for that role. Apart from the trio, Dostana 2 also featured Bobby Deol, Kirron Kher and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. It was directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. All tracks of film, Jaane Kyun, Desi Girl, Mere Maula, Shut and Bounce became instant rage among the audience during its release. 12 years after the film, KJo is making Dostana 2, which is directed by Colin D'Cunha and features Lakshya Lalwani, Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.
