Vijay Deverakonda opens up on the failure of World Famous Lover: 'We fu**ed it up as far as the execution is concerned'

The young star of Tollywood, Vijay Deverakonda, who made a promising start with Arjun Reddy followed by Geetha Govindam is facing a rough patch as his last two films Dear Comrade and World Famous Lover failed to create any magic at the box office. The handsome hunk recently opened up on the disaster response of the highly anticipated World Famous Lover, which released during Valentine's Day, where he told senior journalist Rajeev Masand that the film was very good on paper but it didn't work out during the execution. "The film was amazing on paper. But we fuc*ed it up as far as the execution is concerned. I was excited when I had heard the story," said Vijay.

Talking about Dear Comrade, Vijay Deverakonda added, "The story completely flips in the second half and people were not prepared for it." The actor will resume the shooting of his first Pan-India film, Fighter after the lockdown. According to Mumbai Mirror, Vijay Deverakonda underwent hardcore training and followed a strict diet to prepare for his character. The Arjun Reddy star also visited Thailand to learn mixed martial arts and various other fight forms. In the film, Deverakonda will be seen flaunting six-pack abs. Apart from Vijay, Fighter will also feature Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy and Baahubali star Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles. Talking about the film, Ronit informed a leading daily, "It is a pan-India action film that will feature a lot of mixed martial arts and will be shot extensively in the next six months.

Fighter was announced just after the release of World Famous Lover. Welcoming Ananya to the Telugu film industry, Puri Jagannadh wrote on Twitter: "Happy to Welcome on board Gorgeous @ananyapandayy for our Pan India venture with my hero @TheDeverakonda produced by @karanjohar @Charmmeofficial @apoorvamehta18 Having fun directing this cool venture (sic)"
