Tamilrockers strike again. The menace of the Indian film industry, regardless which language that industry produces films in, has again reared its ugly head to illegally peddle the hard work of filmmakers and their cast and crew. This time, it's Taapsee Pannu starrer, Thappad, directed by Anubhav Sinha, Dulquer Salmaan starrer, Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, directed by Desingh Periyasamy, and Fahadh Faasil starrer, Trance, directed by Anwar Rasheed. Not only have these films been leaked within hours to maximum a day after being released, but word is that the HD prints of all three have also been made available by Tamilrockers.

It's anyone's guess how Tamilrockers is procuring HD prints of new films, when shooting movies with a camera in a theatre rarely offers such fine quality. The only logical guess is that these the notorious movie-piracy site is getting inside help from someone or another within production house because it's nigh impossible to attain high-definition prints of brand-new releases under other circumstances. We can only imagine what those associated with Thappad, Trance and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal must be feeling at the moment, particularly since all three are small-to-medium budgeted films, who don't see the front-loaded opening that their bigger counterparts do, and depend almost entirely on the audience's word-of-mouth to make a mark at the box-office.
Big films that get leaked are at least safe in the knowledge that fans of the huge stars featured in them as well as family audiences will inevitable flock to the theatres if the product is good, which isn't the case with small or mid-range films. That's not to say it's all right if bigger films are leaked; no film deserves to meet such a fate, even those that don't turn out well as a lot off planning, processing, hard work and effort goes into making any film. The sheer arrogance and insouciance with which these pirated sites, especially Tamilrockers operate, need to be curbed and curbed soon.
